BICYCLE SAFETY RODEO
The Bicycle Safety Rodeo is an annual event that is held in Downtown Atlanta and consists of instructional stations and training on the following topics: Bike & Helmet Fitting; Starts & Stops; Scanning/Hand Signals; Demon Driveway; and Crazy Crossroads and Rock Dodge/ Pothole Pitfall.
Other activities include:
- Bicycle Parade with an escort by the Bicycle Patrol Units and other marked police units.
- Free bicycle helmets and several children receive free bikes, many of which are provided by Walmart, Atlanta Beltline Bicycle, Atlanta Pro Bikes and Sheriff’s Office staff members.
- Face painting and art projects to decorate bikes and helmets provided by the Fulton County Arts & Culture Department
Supporting sponsors for this event are the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Georgia Bikes, and the Georgia Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School and many others. Atlanta Police Department Beltline Patrol, Georgia State University Police Department, MARTA Police Department, Georgia Tech Police Department, Georgia World Congress Center Police Department, Fulton County School Police, Atlanta Public School Police Department, Atlanta Fire Department and the FCSO Reserve Branch take part in the event.
